Rainy Day Fillers

We’ve put together what we hope is a comprehensive list of suggestions covering a wide range of activities for people of all ages, using local guides and teachers: if the forecast is rainy and you’ll be stuck indoors – send them an email or give them a call; they’d love to hear from you.

Creative workshops for all ages – Rachel Shilston is a local artist who spends much of her time working in primary schools on collaborative arts projects. She is available to run creative workshops and craft activities for children, plus more specialist skills for adults, such as mosaic, textiles and painting. For children, see her inspiring ideas in the ‘Arty Party’ section of her website  www.deedlesdesigns.com which includes making puppets, jewellery, graffiti canvas, glass painting or t-shirt design. However, if you have a particular interest, then just let her know and she will be happy to tailor make an activity to suit the needs of your group.

Also for children, she offers den-making in the woods.

For adults, a popular workshop is creating a mosaic patio stone for the garden. This can be done as a family, in pairs or individually. She also runs felt brooch making, jewellery, painting and drawing. Prices on request, but includes materials, tuition and travel. (NB: For children’s activities, an adult must supervise the group).
