Tintern Abbey – Tintern was only the second Cistercian foundation in Britain, and the first in Wales. Despite the shell of this grand structure being open to the skies, it remains the best-preserved medieval abbey in Wales.

Our local churches are beautiful, very old, and welcoming to visitors. Most local is the tiny quaint church of St Martin’s in Penyclawd.
Services are held on the first and third Sundays of each month at 9.30 am (Holy Communion/ Church in Wales 1984). Visitors especially welcome since the congregation is small.
Church services on the second and fourth Sundays of each month are held in the nearby village of Dingestow, in St Dingat Church at 9.30 am. Second Sunday is for Holy Communion and fourth Sunday for Morning Prayer.
Special interest: Harvest Festival in September – October is celebrated in each church on different days, for info try the Raglan church St Cadoc’s website which has a calendar of their events, some are special for children such as the animal blessings.
