DIRECTIONS TO HIGH CLOUD FARM- Pen y Clawdd, Nr Monmouth, NP25 4BT

N.B. If you use Sat Nav directions you will be sent into miles of winding narrow lanes. Please follow the directions detailed below.

VIA MONMOUTH and M50 – Click links below to see pictures of route.

  1. Follow the A40 towards Monmouth, through the traffic lights , after half a mile take the first exit (small slip road) marked Trelleck and Rockfield.
  2. Take next left marked Michel Troy
  3. Go through Mitchel Troy along this road (the OLD A40).
  4. After Mitchel Troy take the first left fork marked Dingestow, staying on OLD A40 not rejoining the new dual carriageway. (NB: this is easy to miss and can be confusing – PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY ONCE OUT OF MITCHELTROY).
  5. Continue for 2 miles past the The Somerset Arms on your left and take the next left, half a mile on at the top of the hill, signed Penny Clawd
  6. Go up through woods straight across the staggered crossroads (red telephone kiosk on right) following the sign marked “Usk” to top of hill. Our squirrel sign also points the way.
  7. Continue half mile then see a fork where road bends left on hilltop and our farm lane goes down to the right, marked by a Squirrel sign and a grey triangular sign saying No Through Road.
  8. Take the No Through Road for half mile to our farm entrance

Via M4

  1. Follow M4 to Junction 24
  2. Take A449 towards Monmouth. Follow A449 until second exit marked Abergavenny.
  3. Take Abergavenny exit and stay on right side of slip road, it slips you onto a dual carriageway where you immediately turn right on to a secondary road signed Mitchel Troy.
  4. Follow this road for just over a mile until right turn marked Penny Clawd (beside cottage and big green fishing sign)
  5. Follow lane through woods to the crossroads at the top of the hill with a few houses and the red telephone kiosk
  6. Turn right signed “Usk” Continue half mile then see a fork where road bends left on hilltop and our farm lane goes down to the right, marked by a Squirrel sign and a grey triangular sign saying No Through Road.
  7. Take the No Through Road for half mile to our farm entrance

Highcloud is a farm and is approached by a farm track which though frequently repaired can be potholed, especially in bad weather. It’s not suitable in winter for low slung cars such as sports cars.
